Ruddy Kingfisher, Thailand

 

   

Ruddy Kingfisher at Phang Nga Bay #Thailand this morning. It took a long time to track down but when I did I was able to sit close to it for 20 minutes as it sat resting @Avibase @orientbirdclub @Terrestrial_K #thaibirding

First 5 minutes in #SuanRotFai saw a Yellow-rumped flycatcher and then an old friend, the Stork-billed kingfisher   Was lurking in trees nearby the flycatcher and he popped in close for a brief moment. Nice to see him, in great detail, again.

Javan pond heron in its elegant breeding plumage. It allowed me close to take this one and he was undisturbed catching prey in the lake. Nice time of year to look at herons, love the light colour and contrast of this species. @Avibase @orientbirdclub #birdwatching #birds

Never gets old seeing them and still amazed at their tiny size! 

Visited the Spotted owlets today in #SuanRotFai. 

This capture I attempted to show how small they are - I got my favorite pics today due to it being in the hole and will post more later.

Excited today because of my first encounter with the

Eurasian hoopoe. 

Watched them forage on grass, bath in sand and then take to the trees! It is a widespread species that can be encountered in Europe, africa and asia. Definitely one of my favourites. @Avibase #Birding #birds
